Technical characteristics and filling
The B0 platform is compatible with a large number of power plants, but the Lada Granta developers are unlikely to miss the opportunity to supply the simplest and most reliable 1.6-liter Renault engines, which can have 82, 102 and 113 hp. The initial versions of the cross-hatch feature a 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine that develops up to 122 hp. useful power and 170 Nm of torque. This unit comes with only a 5-speed manual transmission. In this combination, the hatchback covers the first 100 km/h in 10.9 seconds, consuming an average of 7.5 liters of gasoline. The maximum speed of the car is limited to 180 km/h. Ground clearance in all modifications is 215 mm.
For an additional fee, a new 1.6-liter engine becomes available, which is borrowed from models of the Renault-Nissan alliance. This unit produces 113 hp. power at 152 N*m torque. In combination with a continuously variable transmission, the top-end engine provides acceleration to “hundreds” in 12.8 seconds with an average fuel consumption of 7.3 liters.
The XRay's suspension is standard for this class of car. Due to the underlying B0 platform, the car received MacPherson struts located at the front and a torsion beam.
The design of the 2021 Lada XRay Cross is made in the style of the latest AvtoVAZ models. The car stands out from its competitors due to the X-shaped front part of the body and stampings on the side doors. The large head optics of the cross-hatch are framed by a chrome strip, which, running along the standard radiator grille, overlaps the block with the foglights. Below there is a fairly large air intake, which is crossed by a metal strip that performs a decorative function.
The XRay has a two-tone interior. Inside the top-end cross-hatch, a combined finish is provided: the seats, front panel and door panels contain contrasting inserts. The center console is reserved for the now classic multimedia and climate control units. And the transmission tunnel occupies only the gearshift lever. Among the notable details of the interior are the front seats with pronounced lateral support.
Prices for Xray 2021 start with the initial Classic version costing 760 thousand rubles, offered with a manual transmission and a 122-horsepower engine and reaching up to 914,900 rubles. in the Luxe Prestige package.
Release date and start of mass production
The manufacturer promises to show the new Lada Granta in prototype form in 2022. Serial production of the vehicles is expected no earlier than 2022-2023. Initially, the model was supposed to debut in 2021, but due to the global plans of the Renault-Nissan-Lada alliance, production was postponed, but for AvtoVAZ the project of the new Grant is one of the highest priorities and the debut will not take long.
Design
It is quite difficult to find similarities between the presented version of the Lada Granta and the one that is sold on the Russian market today. The new generation sedan is more reminiscent of Vesta than its predecessor. However, even with the “older” model, the new product has many differences.
The new Granta is made in the form of a coupe-shaped sedan with an elongated rear part of the body, a sloping roof and littered A-pillars. This body configuration not only makes the car more sporty, but also reduces gas mileage. Visually, the Lada Granta 2021-2022 concept looks wider and longer than the current version of the sedan. The new product has a voluminous hood, which slowly curves downwards closer to the radiator grille and is complemented by side cutouts.
The head optics of the presented Granta have become larger not only in comparison with the current version of the model, but also with Vesta. The developers changed the graphics of the headlights and supplemented them with a curving strip of LEDs, which, apparently, will serve as daytime running lights. Following the example of modern Granta and Vesta, the new product has extended metal strips forming the letter “X” starting from below the head optics. They frame the radiator grille, which in the presented model contains 3 horizontal slats made of plastic.
These slats, which gradually widen as they move downwards, eventually stop near the original cutouts for the ventilation holes adjacent to the narrow central air intake. There are 2 more niches on the sides of the front bumper. They have additional ventilation holes designed to blow the brake mechanisms, and thin LED fog lights, on top of which there are metal inserts that form a kind of visor.
The presented Lada Granta borrowed X-shaped side stampings from Vesta. This is notable because the current version of the sedan is devoid of such design solutions, which, in turn, received a lot of criticism from Russian car enthusiasts. As noted earlier, the roofline of the new Granta is sloping, which is why the sedan looks more like a four-door coupe. From the current version, the presented concept borrowed plastic inserts that were placed behind the side windows.
The aft glazing, in comparison with the serial Granta, turned out to be larger. At the same time, the car did not receive a “shark fin” antenna, following the example of Vesta. The trunk door extends backwards and ends with a slight protrusion. The rear optics were also borrowed from the current Vesta, but they most likely contain LED lights. Between the stern lights, the developers placed a plastic insert, which seems to emphasize the inscription with the name of the Lada brand.
The rear bumper is devoid of any unexpected design solutions. From below it is closed with a plastic cover, under which a round pipe of the exhaust system can be seen.
The interior design of the new Lada Granta 2021-2022 cannot be seen in the published rendering images. It is likely that an analog instrument panel, presented in the form of two “wells” with dials and a digital screen, and a larger touch monitor will be used inside the future sedan.

Bi-fuel version of Lada Granta 2021
The second generation of the popular budget Granta has been riding on domestic roads since the beginning of autumn 2021. Unfortunately, some permitting and technical difficulties forced everyone to postpone her debut, but starting in 2021, it seems that we will still be able to admire her with our own eyes.
Externally, the CNG modification will completely replicate the updated sedan, but the design will have to be thoroughly revised, since a two-cylinder methane system must be immediately introduced. The platform will remain the same - common with Logan’s B0, the design promises to be very modest, and if you want to know what the dual-fuel version will look like from the inside, just google photos of Renault Logan interiors. The only highlight is the Lada Connect telematics platform, which can be controlled from a smartphone. I was also pleased that remote control of the central locking is now available in the basic configuration, as well as the presence of an on-board computer.

The car will be based on a 5-speed manual transmission, but for automatic transmission fans, it is planned to produce models with a 5-speed robot.
It is not yet known when the new generation of Lada Granta will be released, but the manufacturer has set the deadline for the implementation of its plans as 2021. Specialists from France and Romania are actively working on developing the design of the new product, and it is expected that the first photos will soon be shown to the general public.
