Modern crossovers are becoming lower and lower - we are no longer surprised by their ground clearance of 170–180 mm. But the clearance of the “raised” Lada is 198 mm - and this is when fully loaded! With such an indicator, you can safely drive off the asphalt without fear of damaging the bottom on some pebble. The approach/departure angle is 19 and 26 degrees, respectively – and this is also a decent indicator. Coupled with plastic protection around the perimeter of the body, this allows you to confidently drive through the intersection.

Technical characteristics of Lada Granta Cross 2019-2020
Buyers will be able to choose one of two powertrain options for the Granta Cross model:
- Engine 1.6 liter 87 hp and 140 Nm (works in tandem with a 5-speed manual transmission);
- Engine 1.6 liter 106 hp and 148 Nm (combined with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT robot).
The ground clearance of the cross-version of Grant’s “barn,” as already noted, reaches 198 mm, which is 18 mm higher than the ground clearance of a standard station wagon. Such a reserve under the bottom will allow the car to move more confidently on dirt roads and park at high curbs without fear.

Spacious interior and trunk
Of all the passenger cars of cross-country ideology present on the Russian market, Granta is the most compact. The length of the car is 4.15 m, width is 1.7 m. At the same time, the interior cannot be called cramped. Four adults can sit without any problems. By the way, unlike other versions of the Grant, the station wagon has the largest amount of headroom in the second row. And all because of the high roof. The trunk is also quite roomy - 360 liters, which can easily be increased to 675 by folding the rear seat backs. Thus, Granta Cross may well be the only car in the family.

Model design and equipment
The body of the new Grant Cross station wagon is designed in the same style as all the latest Lada models. However, original attributes are added to the signature X-shaped expression of the “face” - plastic linings “all around” and on the doors, as well as exclusive 15-inch wheels sporting a special two-tone color (a combination of gray and silver shades) and polished areas. These wheels are fitted with 195/55 R15 tires, while the base station wagon gets 185/55 R15 tires. The color “Aurum” will be included in the palette of body enamels of the new model, which should give the car additional energy (the car in this color is shown in the photo).
In the interior of the new representative of the Granta line, the dominant black shade is diluted with orange and gray inserts. Already in the initial configuration, the Lada Granta Cross will be able to boast climate control and roof rails, but in more expensive versions the car will be equipped with heated front seats and windshield, cruise control, rear parking sensors, and multimedia with a color screen.

Russian specifications and prices for the Lada Granta Cross 2019 have been announced, sales of which will start on June 12. The station wagon is offered to be purchased in three versions (Classic, Comfort and Luxe), paying from 554,900 to 643,900 rubles. The “Classic” version includes powered and heated mirrors, climate control and audio preparation. The Comfort package includes heated front seats and a 4-speaker audio system. The Luxury version includes a heated windshield, rear parking sensors and cruise control. The full price list with all modifications and prices is given below.

5 reasons to think about buying a Lada Granta Cross (and one reason to doubt it)
Configurations and estimated prices of Grants Cross
Lada is unlikely to come up with anything unintelligible with the price tags for its cars. In the past, the standard version of Kalina was supplemented by the Kalina Cross variant, which cost on average 40,000 rubles more than the standard version. The same will happen with Grant; the price tag may have an even more modest difference. But you need to remember that the company is positioning the Cross line of models as a higher class, so the car will start right away with a good configuration.
For now we can talk about the following features of the configurations:
- Most likely, the company will offer Luxe and Luxe/Prestige options for potential Granta Cross buyers, and this is the optimal solution; there may not be a Comfort version due to poor equipment;
- Considering the active changes in the interior features, it can be assumed that the concern will provide some individual style packages, this could be styling according to your preferences;
- the cost of the base model in the Cross version can start from 600,000 rubles, this will be the optimal start for this car, but there are fears that the model will receive a higher base price tag;
- the most expensive option will receive a Jatco 4-band automatic transmission, Luxe equipment and cost around 700,000 rubles (slightly lower), and this price segment will already give the car competitors;
- Most likely, the company will not work on individual trim levels, but will make all the additions and individual features of the car in the form of optional packages for additional money.
In general, the new product does not promise any innovations. By the way, the installation of a Jetko machine is not yet a verified fact. It is quite possible that Lada has decided to produce the Cross version of the Granta car only with proprietary mechanical and robotic gearboxes. You should wait for the official premiere and specific reviews of the car to get maximum reliable and official information.
What else can you buy for that kind of money?
If we take into account the price range of 600-700 thousand rubles, then Granta Cross has several rivals. Of course, you need to take into account good equipment and raised ground clearance. But this is where the advantages of the domestic novelty end. But for the same money you can buy several options for relatively good foreign cars, as well as a couple of types of domestic cars, albeit without increased ground clearance.
Among price competitors, the following models attract attention:
- Chevrolet Niva. If you need an SUV for driving on country roads, it makes sense to think about buying a Shnivy. For 620,000 rubles you can purchase a basic version, which is equipped with a proven unit and a good all-wheel drive system.
- Chery Tiggo 2. Don't discount the Chinese who pretend to be a crossover. This is a good baby with good ground clearance, an excellent interior, a good engine and durable technology in general. The car costs from 673,000 rubles, and that’s not bad.
- Great Wall M4. This is another interesting car from the family of Chinese crossovers, which can compete with the new version of the Granta. With a price starting from 684,000 rubles, the car is immediately stuffed with excellent technologies for a comfortable trip.
- KIA Rio. For 650,000 rubles you can buy a sedan from the Korean manufacturer KIA. The car is not raised above the ground, but its ground clearance is sufficient for successful operation in Russia. The car provides a completely different approach to the quality of the trip.
- Lada XRAY. Actually, you can pay attention to the same XRAY for 650,000 rubles and refuse to buy Grants, albeit in a richer package. This is a different level of car with quite good technical characteristics and capabilities.
