- LADA-SUPER 5W-40, 10W-40, 15W-40;
- LUKOIL SUPER 5W-30, 5W-40, 10W-40, 15W-40;

- MOBIL SUPER M15W-40.
These mixtures are designed taking into account the presence of a catalyst in the car. Engines of all VAZ models manufactured after October 2000 should be filled with “super” category oils. Such substances have high physical and chemical properties. The best option for 2114 is Helix HX7 5W-40. This highly refined mineral type motor oil has the following characteristics:
- presence of a faint carbon odor,
- constant viscosity level until the next mixture change,
- hardening at -39 °C,
- slight solubility in water,
- regular use of the fluid reduces fuel consumption by effectively removing dirt from the surfaces of engine parts,
- reduction of noise and vibration,
- used for gasoline engines with injection and diesel engines with turbocharging.
Changing the engine oil
Before you start changing the oil, you need to let the engine run to warm up the fluid being replaced.- To change the engine fluid, the car will have to be raised. This could be an overpass, a lift, etc.
- The next step is to unscrew the lid of the container to fill the liquid.
- We are located under the bottom of the car, grabbing a key for 17 and a container for draining the waste.
- We place the container under the drain hole and carefully unscrew its plug. The waste substance is hot, so you need to use gloves.
- It will take some time to completely free the engine from the old filler. Be patient and wait for everything to pour out. After this, screw the drain plug back.
- The next step in the replacement process is to change the oil filter. We get out from under the car and unscrew the old oil filter. Be careful, the filter may also be hot. Remains of waste liquid will flow out of the filter, so waste containers will be needed here as well.
- Check for an old gasket on the filter or at its mounting location. You can now get rid of these two unnecessary elements.
- After lubricating the gasket of the new filter with fresh engine oil, pour about 200 mg of this fluid into it.

- Pour fresh engine oil through the hole using a funnel. The amount of liquid poured can be determined by the indicators on the dipstick. The level should be between o and “max”.
- After this, close the hole and start the car engine. The machine should run until the low oil pressure switch goes out.
- After this, turning off the engine, we once again check the level of the filled liquid with a dipstick, and if necessary, top up.

How to properly replace the oil fluid?
To determine how much lubricant will be needed to fill the motor, pay attention to the amount of mixture drained. For a 2114 car this figure does not exceed 4 liters; for a 2109 3.5 will be enough. It is recommended to check the level of the filled liquid with a dipstick.
Once the drain hole is closed, you can start the engine. After the oil pressure switch goes out, you can turn off the engine. Checking the fluid level is your next task. If necessary, the substance is added or drained.
It is also necessary to warm up the engine if the car has not been driven for a long time. When the engine runs, the liquid heats up and liquefies.

Oil fill volume
The question of the amount of oil needed for an oil change often worries novice car enthusiasts. Experts recommend focusing on the volume of old engine fluid drained and the dipstick readings. The amount of oil poured should not be less. Depending on the condition of the car (possible deformation of the pan), the volume of liquid poured into the VAZ-2114 engine ranges from 3.0 liters to 3.7 liters.

Sequence of work
Now let’s look specifically at how to change the oil in a VAZ 2114 engine. Before you start work, you need to prepare everything you need:

- Rags.

- Remove the old oil filter located in the rear on the passenger side. Usually it can be easily unscrewed by hand, but sometimes problems arise. In this case, you can use a special key.
